DG PDMA Gives Details on Flood Relief Activities

Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi has said that government is vigorously providing relief to the flood affectees with national spirit in this hour of trial. He said that three time meal is being provided regularly to 65919 flood affectees in 303 relief camps. He said that government is continuously vaccinating cattle of flood affectees to protecting them from seasonal and other diseases. He said that medical facilities have been provided to 299953 persons so far. He said that flood affectees have started returning to their homes after receding of water. Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi told that the government has sent teams of doctors and medical staff from all medical colleges and teaching hospitals of the province to flood-hit districts for monitoring and surveillance. He said that these teams besides carrying out survey of diseases by visiting door to door at union council level will also check the performance of medical teams already working there. He informed that a report regarding losses caused in flood-hit districts is being prepared so that after giving final shape to the losses caused to the human life, property, crops and other water channels, process of distributing financial assistance among affectees could be started. He said that the process of drainage of water from low-lying areas is also continuing.
