Chief Secretary Monitors Rain Affected Areas

On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema visited various areas of the city including Lakshmi Chowk, Outfall Road and Gulburg to monitor the situation after rain. Commissioner Lahore Division, District Coordination Officer Lahore and Director General LDA also accompanied him. The Chief Secretary directed Managing Director WASA and DCO Lahore to ensure immediate disposal of rainwater. He further directed MD WASA to personally supervise this operation and submit a report after every two hours.

While talking to media-men at Laskshmi Chowk, the Chief Secretary said that WASA teams are working for disposal of rainwater and it will soon be drained from Laskshmi Chowk if there are no more rains. He further said that 14 disposal stations are functioning at full capacity and generators have also been arranged at these stations. He said that critical centers have been set up at 18 places in Lahore where WASA staff has been posted and is working round the clock.
