Country Director Save the Children Pakistan Program Ms. Farhana Faruqi Stocker called on Punjab Chief Minister’s Health Advisor Khawaja Salman Rafique in his office at Punjab Assembly. The delegation of Save the Children discussed its project activities including Diarrhoea Prevention & Control Program in Punjab with Multisectoral approach involving Health,Local Government & Community Development, Public Health Engineering Department and Education department of Government of Punjab under the overarching role of Planning & Development department Punjab.
Farhana appraised the efforts of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for taking certain initiatives like Road Map to access the poorest of poor across all districts of Punjab and shared some of the Save the Children initiatives like Saving Newborn Lives, the Diarrhoea Prevention &Control Project etc. Khawaja Salman Rafique appreciated the role of Save the Children in Punjab and endorsed that the Government cannot implement innovations without involvement and active participation of development partners.
Later, the country director Save the Children Ms. Farhana met Secretary Planning & Development Department Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry with her delegation. “We need to take guidance from Save the Children’s Child Protection System Strengthening Protocols in order to incorporate innovations in Child Protection Systems already in practice in Punjab,” said Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry in the meeting. Farhana thanked secretary and government of the Punjab for their continued support, ownership and guidance extended while working with Save the Children on various projects.
