Provincial Minister for Women Development, Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said that transparency will be ensured regarding issuance of gunny bags at any cost and Punjab government have issued instructions to the concerned officers of district administration and PASSCO for the redressal of genuine complaints in this regard. She said that under merit policy of Khadim-e-Punjab, violation of policy for the issuance of gunny bags on the basis of first come first serve basis through balloting to farmers coming to token centers will not be tolerated.
She expressed these views during her visit to token centers set up Pindi Bhattian and Sukheki Mandi. AC Pindi Bhattian Sarosh Fatima also accompanied the Minister. The Minister said that Punjab government has taking all out measures for ensuring right to the deserving persons however, in case of public complaints, the concerned officers will be responsible for their redressal and no laxity will be tolerated in this regard. Taking notice of complaints of some persons at token centres, the Minister directed that PASSCO and district administration should ensure clear and transparent strategy on next balloting so that gunny bags would be provided to the persons on their turn and no priority be given to favorites. Hameeda Waheed ud Din directed that transparency and merit should be up held in the distribution of gunny bags on first come first serve basis and token centre in-charges will be responsible for maintaining merit. AC Sarosh Fatima gave a briefing to the Minister and assured that gunny bag tokens are being issued in accordance with government policy and notice of complaints of the people is being immediately taken.
