Government of the Punjab has decided to computerize each and every record of the Punjab police through an Inventory Management System launched by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Lahore. It was stated by the PITB Chairman Dr. Umar Saif during a meeting here. He said that the pilot project worth Rs. 16.0 million would be kicked off in Lahore for which main server for monitoring is scheduled to be established in Central Police Office Lahore or at PITB headquarters. He further disclosed that the procurement of all vehicles, petrol, arms, food, uniforms, and other equipment is going to be computerized that will help a lot in curbing their illegal use and embezzlements as well. “With the completion of this project hopefully by the end of this year, the entire record of Punjab police will be accessible easily anytime resulting in the effective monitoring and better performance of the police personnel,” he added.
