Govt establishing state-of-the-art medical institutes for treatment of chronic, fatal diseases

Provincial Minister for Law, Excise & Taxation and Finance Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that huge resources are being spent on the rapid development of the province, promotion of quality education, elimination of ignorance and unemployment as well as provision of prompt and inexpensive justice to the masses. He said government is establishing state-of-the-art medical institutes for the provision of latest healthcare facilities at cheaper rates even free of cost to the deserving patients. He said that focus is on the launching of high tech hospitals for the treatment fetal and complicated diseases and a modern institutes of Neuro Sciences is being established at a cost of Rs. 2.74 billion in two phases. He said that Institute of Neuro Sciences will provide opportunities for the promotion of neurosurgery in Punjab as well as training and updating the knowledge of doctors. He said that 50 acres land at burkey road & required funds were being provided for construction of state of the art Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute.
            
While talking to a delegation of doctors and party workers, Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman stressed upon the doctors community for launching massive awareness campaign for sensitizing the people about hazardous aspects of smoking with a view to prevent TB, heart, lungs, bronchitis and various types of lungs cancer. He said that it is high time for promoting social mobilization against smoking, TB and cancer. He said that billions of rupees are being wasted on smoking annually which is major cause of spread of deadly diseases like TB, lungs cancer and even cardiovascular diseases as well as other chest diseases even chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases which 4th main cause of deaths in the world and 600 million people are victims of this disease in the world, whereas, according to WHO 3 million people die each year in the world due to these complications.
            
Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman said that government is focusing for the treatment of chronic & fatal diseases. He said that by increasing the health budget, the present government has ensured modern health facilities and free medicines to poor and resource-less people. He said that special attention is being paid to the provision of best treatment facilities to the people of far-flung areas especially remote areas of South Punjab and Rs. One billion has been provided for mobile health units.
            
Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman said that government was encouraging the NGOs as well as educational institutions for organizing awareness events against fatal diseases. He said that Punjab government has provided additional budget for the provision of health services in Punjab. He told that with a cost or Rs.4 billion health insurance card will be issued so that to provide state of the art healthcare facilities even in private health institutions to the poor card holder patients. He said that Rs.60 crore has been reserved for dialysis facilities to the poor kidney patients.
