Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed ud Din, Minister for Population Welfare Zakia Shahnawaz and Minister for Home Col. Retd. Shuja Khanzada have said that the bill for checking violence against women has been given the final shape and will soon be sent to the government for approval.
They were addressing a meeting of special monitoring unit for the bill checking violence against women and their rehabilitation in the committee room of S&GAD, here today. Advisor to Chief Minister Salman Sufi gave detail of the bill. Representatives of Women Development, Social Welfare, Finance, Police, Law, Prosecution departments besides Advisor to Chief Minister Rana Maqbool, Member Provincial Assembly Farhana Afzal, Dr. Aaliya Aftab, Parliament Secretary for Women Development Department Rashida Yaqoob and other concerned were present. The meeting was informed that the setting up of anti-violence centers against women will help in protection of women rights as well as rehabilitation and redressal of the women subjected to violence or victim of cyber crimes. It was further told that after the approval of the bill, the first center for controlling violence against women will be established in Multan and sum of ninety million rupees will be allocated for this purpose. The meeting was also told that after the pilot project, crisis centers will be given the status of centers for controlling violence against women.
