Punjab Minister for Women Development, Hamida Waheeduddin has said that in accordance with the vision of the government, women will be given full representation in every sector of life.
She was talking to women during her visit to working women hostels at Model Town and Gulshan-e-Ravi Lahore, this evening. Director Women Development Department Moin Akhtar was also present on the occasion. Working women residing in the hostel informed the minister about their problems and also appreciated steps taken by the government for the welfare of women. Hamida Waheeduddin said that under the Women Package 2012, revolutionary measures have been taken for enabling women, who constitute 52 percent of the country's population, play their role in national development. She said that besides ensuring social protection to women, due share has been given to women in inheritance, 15 percent quota has been allocated for them in jobs, while daycare and other facilities have also been provided to women. She said that a hefty amount has been earmarked for the welfare and betterment of women in the new budget.
Hamida Waheeduddin further said that she would also visit working women hostels in other districts for ensuring proper facilities in these hostels. She said that women should be aware of their due rights. She said that awareness programmes will be arranged at the district level by Women Development Department with the cooperation of NGOs and women will be extended full encouragement to join national mainstream. She said that the purpose of her visit to working women hostels in the evening was to gain knowledge about their problems and to take measures for their solution.
