Secretary Health Punjab Hassan Iqbal has said that Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology (WIC) is a big public welfare project and vigorous steps have been started for its early completion and making it functional. He said that a summary for releasing funds has also been submitted to Chief Minister Punjab for approval.
He was presiding over a high level meeting with regard to early completion of WIC at Circuit House Gujranwala today. DCO Tariq Javed Malik, Justice (R) Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema MNA, Akmal Saif Chattah MPA, former DG Health Dr. Nisar Ahmad Cheema, Additional Secretary Health Punjab Usman Moazam, Chief Executive PIC Lahore Prof. Dr. Bilal Zakaria Khan, EDO Health Dr. Azhar Masood and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
Secretary Health directed officers of Provincial Building Department to complete the remaining construction work of WIC at the earliest and he will conduct a detailed inspection during his next visit. He asked the officers of Health and Building departments to bring in his notice any problem or hurdle in any matter so that effective steps could be taken for immediate redressal. He also directed MS to finalize the matters relating to treatment and provision of medicines so that there should no hurdle in making WIC functional and best treatment facilities could be provided to the patients.
Justice (R) Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema MNA said that according to the announcement of the Chief Minister, WIC will remain a cardiac hospital and it will not be converted into general hospital. He said that WIC will prove to be a blessing for the patients of Gujranwala division and other districts. SE Buildings Azim Gul informed that the building of WIC is in the final stages of completion and besides facilities of electricity, gas, sewerage and water, roads will also be completed very soon.
