Special Assistant to CM on Energy, Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri has said that Punjab government has started solar power project in Cholistan with the collaboration of Germany at a cost of Rs. one billion dollars. On behalf of Chief Minister Punjab, Zaeem Qadri laid the foundation stone of this project at Deen Garh, Cholistan which will produce 50MW electricity in its first phase.
While addressing a ceremony, Syed Zaeem Hussan Qadri said that this mega project will help solve the energy crisis besides bringing economic revolution. He said that with the completion of this project, loadshedding would end in Punjab. He said that the Punjab government is utilizing all resources for the betterment of poor. He said that energy plays an important role in the development of any country. He said that various projects for producing energy were started during previous regime only to get commission which affected the common man badly. He said that after the 18th Amendment, the Punjab government has started a project to produce 120MW at Taunsa Barrage. He said that 500MW solar energy is such a project which would give 60% electricity to Punjab. Zaeem Qadri said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has given a line of change to the masses.
Representative Incharge of German company, AEG while giving details of projects, said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Sharif had visited Germany last year and a consortium of three companies for producing 500MW electricity was planned during this visit. He said that for looking after this project, a training center would be set up in Lahore. He said that this project would be completed in 2014 and employment opportunities would be generated for the trained people.
Speaking on the occasion, Member National Assembly, Saood Majeed said that this project would change the destiny of the people of area and the water problem would be resolved forever. He said that five thousand acres of land in Cholistan has been allocated for this purpose. He said that under the leadership of President PML-N, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, poverty and darkness would end from the country. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif would announce to award proprietary rights to Cholistan people during his public meeting in Bahawalpur next week. Managing Director Cholistan Development Authority Javed Akhat Mehmood, Saad Masood, Secretary Energy Jehanzeb Khan, leaders of PML-N, Qazi Adnan Fareed, Qasim Qureshi, Colonization Officer Asif Hayat Lodhi, Idrees Ghori, Basharat Randhawa attended the function. Coordinator to CM Punjab in Germany Shahid Riaz Gondal especially participated in this ceremony.
