Advancement of higher education a top priority for the Government

Minister Education Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that in order to enhance the ratio of higher education among female students, the new women universities are being established in Bahawalpur, Multan, Sialkot and Faisalabad. He said that scholarships of ten billion rupees from Punjab Education Endowment Fund are being provided to 50 thousand students for higher studies within the country and abroad. He said that government is implementing a comprehensive strategy for imparting modern education to the students and Rs. 195 billion will be spent on education sector during the current fiscal year which is 25 percent of the total budget of the province. Financial grant is being provided especially to the institutions for the  women, he added.

While talking to  a group of students,The Minister said that 50 colleges has opened in the province, out of which 12 colleges are in Lahore. He said that government is implementing a comprehensive policy for the up-gradation of higher education in the province.

Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that the government has finished all reserve seats of self-finance in professional colleges and only talented students are being getting admission on merit.  He said that talented girl and boy students are being given laptops while the male and female students obtaining first position in all the boards are sent abroad on tour to the prestigious universities of the world.
