Financial grants being provided especially to female universities

Punjab Minister for Education Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that Financial grant is being provided especially to the institutions of women. The Minister said that new women universities are also being established in Bahawalpur, Multan, Sialkot and Faisalabad for enhancing ratio of higher education among women. Punjab government has opened 50 colleges in the province during last four years, out of which 12 colleges are in Lahore. He said that government is implementing a comprehensive policy for the up-gradation of higher education in the province, he added.

He expressed these views at the 10th Convocation of Lahore College for Women University(LCWU), here today. Vice Chancellor Dr. Sabiha Mansoor also addressed on the occasion. The Minister also distributed medals, shields, roles of honour and certificates among the successful students. The Minister also appreciated the start of Malalah Yousafzai Scholarship by the university that is a contribution of LCWU for women higher education. He said that government is implementing a comprehensive strategy for imparting modern education to the students and Rs. 195 billion will be spent on education sector during the current fiscal year which is 25 percent of the total budget of the province.

Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that scholarships are being given to 50 thousand students from Punjab Education Endowment Fund this year. He said that the government has finished all reserve seats of self-finance in professional colleges and only talented students are being getting admission on merit.  He said that talented girl and boy students are being given laptops while the male and female students obtaining first position in all the boards are sent abroad on tour to the prestigious universities of the world.
