Mobile teams have inspected 20,877 unused facilities to eradicate dengue

Mobiles teams of Local Govt. Department for the eradication of dengue larva have so far been inspected 20887 junkyards, basements and buildings which are not in use and eradicated dengue. Every such place has been allotted a code number to facilitate other departments or institutions for verification of the larvaeciding.

This was stated by Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh. Salman Rafique during his visit to central dengue control room at Local Government Department Complex. Special Secretary Local Govt. Dr. Saqib Nazir and Additional Secretary Local Government Raja Jehangir Anwar were also present on the occasion. Kh. Salman Rafique said that rules and regulations formulated in the light of the reports regarding growth of dengue larva and their immediate implementation have greatly helped in controlling dengue and now such rules and regulations will also be formulated and implemented regarding junkyards in the light of the survey conducted for this purpose. They said that no one will be able to establish junkyard without license and its cleanliness will have to be ensured. Additional Secretary Local Government Raja Jahangir informed that cases have been registered against the owners of 42 junkyards, shops and factories due to poor arrangements for protection from dengue in Lahore despite warning whereas 74 people were fined under Local Government Ordinance. He told that the special teams of Local Government are continuously working for eradication of dengue larva without observing Sunday holiday. He said that due to this reason the breeding of dengue larva has decreased to a considerable level this year as compared to last year. He said that awareness has been created among the masses about dengue and the people inform mobile teams about junkyards and the places of breeding of dengue and insist on their inspection.
