Provincial Minister for Auqaf Haji Ehsan ud Din Qureshi presented the joint declaration.

JOINT DECLARATION

“On the occasion of Azmat-e-Rehmatul-lil-Aalameen Conference, this representative gathering of Ulema and Mashaikh-e-Islam of all schools of thought of the country express their extreme anger and resentment over the sacrilegious film against the Holy Prophet (PBUH). All the participants of the Conference are unanimous that this profane act is an open challenge of anti-Islam forces to the two billion Muslims of the world. The participants of the conference are united to defeat the nefarious conspiracies of anti-Islam elements.

We agree to the stance of Punjab government and demand of the federal government that as the government of a great Islamic state of the world, it should play its due role at this critical juncture. We also support the demand of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif that the federal government should immediately convene a meeting of the ambassadors of Muslim countries in Islamabad for evolving a joint strategy against the movie and win support from them in holding an emergent meeting of OIC in Madina Munawwara. The meeting also demands of the federal government to contact the UN for taking diplomatic measures at the international level for declaring disrespect to all religions and prophets as a crime.

The participants of the conference requested Ulema of all schools of thought, Khuteba and Zakreen that in their sermons they should stress upon the people to promote unity, tolerance and a positive attitude and while protesting against the blasphemous movies should refrain from ransacking, violence and hooliganism so that anti-Islam and Pakistan elements should not succeed in their evil designs to create confusion and chaos in the country.

In these difficult times, we display patience and restraint and resolve to strengthen the country and make it a haven of peace and harmony. We pray Allah Almighty to grant us courage and strength to forge unity in our ranks against anti-Islam elements and make every sacrifice to uphold the sanctity and respect of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).”
