The Resident Coordinator of United Nations and local representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Timopakala has said that, with regard to Millennium Development Goals, the Punjab province has displayed better performance as compared to other provinces. In his report, prepared on behalf of UNDP, regarding implementation of Millennium Development Goals in Punjab, he said that, despite floods, law and order situation and international recession, which negatively impacted the economy of the province, performance indicators in Punjab have been much better than the national average. He reiterated that UNDP and United Nations would continue to assist Punjab to further enhance its efforts to achieve Millennium Development Goals till 2015. He thanked the Punjab Government for helping UNDP and other institutions of United Nations in preparing the report. It may be mentioned that Punjab Planning and Development Department, in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme, has initiated implementation of Punjab Millennium Development Goals-2011 programme.
