Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the basic aim of initiating the internship programme is to enable the younger generation to meet the challenges of the future. He said that, under this programme, more than 50 thousand girl and boy students of Punjab would be granted a monthly stipend of Rs.10 thousand, while getting training from various institutions. Presiding over a meeting in this regard, the Chief Minister ordered that the pace of implementation of internship programme be further accelerated. He observed that internship programme is a significant source of imparting necessary training to the younger generation, for which special proforma has been prepared for the candidates, while registration of all candidates would be made online. He said that smart cards, on the pattern of ATM cards, would be issued to all girl and boy internees. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the younger generation is the focus of our hopes, and we have to give them a prosperous and strong Pakistan and not a despondent and poor country. During the meeting, the Chief Minister was given detailed briefing on the internship programme. Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman Planning & Development Secretary Information, Chairman PITB and other concerned authorities were also present on the occasion.
