As many as 918 young doctors have given joining in various teaching hospitals of the province. According to the statistics collected by Health Department from various hospitals, 98 doctors have taken up the responsibilities in Mayo Hospital, 114 in Services Hospital, 62 in Jinnah Hospital, 45 in Lahore General Hospital, 41 in Children Hospital, 46 in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, while 25 new doctors have joined PIC. A total of 431 young doctors have been posted in various hospitals of Lahore.
According to the sources, 117 doctors have given joining in Allied Hospital Faisalabad and DHQ Hospital Faisalabad, 110 in Rawalpindi Medical College Hospitals, 152 in Nishter Hospital Multan, 43 in Multan Institute of Cardiology, 9 in Children Hospital Multan, 21 in Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan and 35 in Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur.
According to the spokesman of health department, 210 Women Medical Officers recruited by the Punjab Public Service Commission are also among the 918 new doctors. Moreover, a total of 14910 patients were provided medical facilities by the doctors in various teaching hospitals of the province including 3837 patients in outdoor of Mayo Hospital, 956 in Services Hospital, 945 in Jinnah Hospital, 1238 in Lahore General Hospital, 1060 in Children Hospital Lahore, 1473 in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and 799 patients were treated in Punjab Institute of Cardiology. Meanwhile, 1825 patients were treated in the outdoors of Allied Hospital Faisalabad and DHQ Hospital Faisalabad. Similarly, 1010 patients were provided medical facilities in the outdoors of teaching hospitals of Rawalpindi and 1767 in Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahimyar Khan. Moreover, 5008 patients were provided treatment facilities by the doctors in the emergency wards of above mentioned hospitals.
