PIC Treated 112658 Patients In Outdoor And 70709 Patients In Emergency During The Last Six Months

Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) is endeavouring hard to provide maximum medical treatment facilities to the cardiac patients and during the last six months, the doctors and the staff of the hospital provided health facilities to 112658 patients in outdoor as well as 70709 patients provided emergency treatment in the Emergency Ward despite limited beds.
 
This was disclosed by the Chief Executive of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) while highlighting the performance of the institute during the last six months. He said that apart from Punjab, lot of patients come from other provinces to the PIC for treatment and despite limited resources PIC does not deprive any patient of the treatment facilities.  Prof. Nadeem Hayat Malik further said that PIC catering huge patient load which could be managed by evolving a better referral system for this purpose. He said that PIC is providing best medical treatment facilities to the patients according to the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. He further informed that during the last six months 14040 patients admitted in the hospital whereas 8932 minor operations / procedures have been conducted by the doctors. Moreover, 1171 major surgeries of the patients carried out in the institution. He was of the view that on average 1500 to 2000 patients are getting one month free medicines daily from the OPD and PIC has this unique distinction as no other hospital provides medicines to such a huge number of patients in OPD. However, PIC is maintaining this tradition for the last many years, he concluded.
