Minimum Service Delivery Standards And Infection Control In The Hospitals Being Implemented

Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Kh. Salman Rafique has said that Provincial Health Department will lend a helping hand to Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) in taking measures regarding implementation of Minimum Service Delivery Standards and infection control in the hospitals and health centers of the province. Implementation on recommendations of the commission will be ensured, he added.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of Rewind Coordination Committee constituted by Chief Minister at Civil Secretariat, today. Chief Operating Officer PHC Dr. Ajmal Khan, Special Secretary Health Dr. Sajid Chohan, Additional Secretaries of both Health Departments besides Dr. Mushtaq Solehria of PHC, Prof. Riaz Tasneem, Dr. Riaz and other officers were present on the occasion. Dr. Ajmal Khan told the meeting that PHC has registered more than 33000 Hakeems, Tabeebs and Homeopaths while licenses have been issued to more than 18000. He told that 47000 Hakeems and Tabeebs are working in the province and PHC registers after formal inspection and issues license to those fulfilling rules and regulations. He said that commission received one thousand complaints regarding various hospitals, individual doctors and clinics out of which 544 have been disposed and decisions were taken against 205 applications while action was also taken against a number of major doctors in different cases. He said that PHC has provided training to more than 9000 doctors and other people associated with health sector.

Kh. Salman Rafique appreciated the performance of PHC and said that PHC has started its work in difficult conditions however, now it is achieving success. He said that government will help PHC and according to the instructions of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, steps will be taken for improving the standard of health facilities in public and private hospitals, enforcing minimum service delivery standards and infection control.
