Provincial Minister for Finance Dr.Ayesha Ghaus Pasha has said that use of Information Technology for ensuring good governance is the top priority of Punjab Government which, besides resolving the problems of common man, is also playing important role for the economic growth of the Province. She said that land Record Management System, Computerization of Police Stations, e-monitoring system in the hospital, schools and use of smart phones for monitoring polio and dengue campaigns are such steps which are making Punjab role model for other provinces. The Provincial Minister said that provision of Wi-Fi service and free internet at hospitals, colleges, universities recreational places and bus stops will prove another revolutionary step for the repaid development of the province. She said that due to this step, maximum opportunities available to the students in the education and research fields for polishing their research abilities. She said that easy access to necessary information and contacts with the heirs will be available to the patients, tourists and those using public transport.
She expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of provision of free Wi-Fi Hot Spot Internet in Punjab in collaboration with Punjab Information Technology Board and Pakistan Telecommunication here today. Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha has said that the increasing use of Internet has not only created courage for freedom of expression through promotion of mutual contacts between persons belonging to various walks of life but also rulers have also become accountable before the people. It is high time for policy makers to redress the Public complaints and correct their policies in the light of needs and suggestions by removing reservations of stakeholders through positive criticism of the people, she added. The Provincial minister said that correct policies are vital for correct steps. She said that Punjab Province is fortune that it has such leadership in the shape Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif as has kept in view contemporary demands for the development of the Province. She informed the participants about free Wi-Fi Hot Spot project which is being started from five districts of Punjab including Lahore, Rawalpindi ,Multan, Faisalabad and Bahawalpur and it scope will also be expanded to other cities of the province.Dr Ayesha Ghous Pasha said that E-Governors system will b introduced all over the Province. She said that it is our collective responsibility to make Punjab province an educated, developed and prosperous which is linked with the discharge of duties with devotion and dedication. She said being Finance Minister it is her responsibility to ensure that the Public money should be spent on the Public welfare projects. She said that provision of free Wi-Fi Internet is also a public welfare oriented project which will be helpful in safe-guarding the rights of the people.
