On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, an institute of cardiology would be constructed in Quetta, Balochistan on a 25 acre piece of land adjacent to Bolan Medical College/Hospital at a cost of Rs. two billion. It is a 100-bed facility for cardiac patients. In this connection Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique along with Secretary Health Najam Ahmed Shah and experts of Infrastructure Development Authority (IDAP) would visit Quetta in the last week of the current month. It was decided in a meeting of Secretary Health Balochistan Asmat Ullah Kakar with Mr. Rafique and Mr. Shah at Civil Secretariat, here today. Mr. Rafique said that institute of cardiology Quetta would be a gift from the government and people of Punjab to their Balochi brothres. The institution would provide latest treatment facilities to the cardiac patients of local community. Secretary Health Balochistan Mr. Kakar informed that Balochistan government has allocated 25 acre of land on a spiny road adjacent to Bolan Medical College. Mr. Rafique informed that after the visit, experts of IDAP would present their recommendations to the government of Punjab regarding design and other architectural matters of the proposed building of QIC. The Minister further said that it is our utmost desire to start construction of the project soon so it could be completed as early as possible to provide latest health facility to the cardiac patients of Balochistan.
