Turkish Medical Agency Will Upgrade Multan and Bahawalpur DTLs, Secretary Health Punjab

Secretary Primary & Secondary Health Punjab Ali Jan Khan presided over a meeting of Drug Control Regime of the Department during which detailed discussion and progress of the Drug Wing was reviewed. The meeting discussed the upgradation of drug testing laboratories, inspection of pharmaceutical companies’ Good Manufacturing Practices  (GMP), testing of medicines samples from the laboratories of foreign countries  and other matters. The meeting was informed that LGC Laboratories UK would upgrade DTLs of Lahore, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi to the standards of ISO 17025 within a year. Whereas Turkish Medical & Medicines Device Agency (TMMDA) will responsible for upgradation of Multan and Bahawalpur DTLs upto to the international standards. It was informed that 272 drugs samples have been sent to access quality of purchased medicines by the department. Secretary Health directed SKAFS Firm to continue mock inspection of all the firms by which the department is purchasing medicines. Ali Jan Khan directed that hiring of new staff for all drug testing laboratories to be completed within a month and training of new staff should be carried out by the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA). Additional Secretary Drug Wing Muhammad Sohail, Additional Secretary Technical Dr. Asim Altaf, Deputy Secretary Yadullah, Chief Drug Controller Punjab and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
