Punjab Revenue Authority Set New Revenue Collection Record of Rs. 82.80bn

Provincial Minister for Finance Dr Aisha Ghaus Pasha has said that Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has set a new revenue collection record of Rs 82.80bn. In the year of 2016-2017. This is the highest collection ever recorded by any tax collection agency of sub-national level in this year. PRA’s team must be appreciated for this remarkable success. She said that inclusion of more than 25,000 taxpayer in tax net, launching of invoice monitoring System at Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Multan, voluntary Taxpayer Assistance Program(V-TAP), E-Bureau and Installation of automated revenue machines will enhance the performance of Authority in near future.   
She expressed these views during her visit to PRA yesterday along with Special Secretary Finance Saif-u-allah Dogar. Dr Ayesha Ghous Pasha said that establishment of Appellate Tribunal, the provision of e-court service through video link, facility of tax collections in all branches of Bank of Punjab in addition to NBP has also increased the confidence of the taxpayers. This is the proof of PRA’s fruitful policies. Chairman Punjab Revenue Authority Dr. Raheel Ahmed Siddiqui briefed the meeting that Taxpayer’s Chartered of Rights and Professional code of ethics has been formed. Beside this PRA also established a Training Academy to act as a state of the art Resource Centre and a Research think-tank on issues of tax policy and management. Moreover, new district offices at Sahiwal, Sargodah, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur are created. After the success of Restaurant Invoice Monitoring System and Amanat scheme, invoice monitoring system will be introduce in beauty salons and other services centers as well. Chairman told the Minister that it was remarkable to express the divided collection between telecom and non-telecom services. A review of the available data reveals that the non-telecom services grew by an astounding 65%. Dr. Ayesha expressed her satisfaction on the performance and future plans of PRA and ask to contact with FBR, Excise & Taxation, Social Security and Industries Department for data analysis and risk assessment.
