Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Tourism Rai Haider Ali Khan has said that Punjab Government has taken several initiatives for Sustainable Tourism and its outcomes can be seen throughout the province. Addressing the participants of a seminar on the occasion of World Tourism Day, he said that Development in Soon Valley, Desert Rallies at Cholistan and Thal, Double Dacker Buses in Lahore are the initiatives which have been taken by Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab to promote Tourism in the province. However there is need to work more for sustainable development on different levels, it will involve, among other things, the overhauling of development and trade practices which tend to destroy the environment. Rai Haider Ali Khan further said that Punjab Government is pursuing a vigorous policy to promote Tourism in the province. World Tourism Day is celebrated every year under a theme announced by World Tourism Organization. This year the theme is Sustainable Tourism- a tool for development.
