Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab organized a seminar under the aegis of Project Director (PIU-PDMA) Mr. Hameed Ullah Malik and Project Coordinator (PIU-PDMA) Mr. Nisar Ahmed Sani here today to improve disaster resilience at the provincial level. The event was organized for information sharing and interactive sessions with officers from a number of government departments including district administration Jhang.
Deputy Commissioner Jhang Mr. Mudassar Riaz Malik graced the occasion with his presence. While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mudassar thanked PDMA Punjab for undertaking a province-wide initiative to improve disaster resilience. He said gathering of all respected partners from government, media, and civil society would lay a solid foundation for a proactive approach to disaster response in Punjab. “PDMA’s effort for Multi Hazard Vulnerability & Risk Assessment (MHVRA) in 20 districts of Punjab is appreciable”, he added. Welcoming the participants on the occasion, Project Director (PIU-PDMA) Mr. Hameed Ullah Malik called the seminar as an example of PDMA’s efforts to serve as a central coordination body for disaster relief in the province. Speaking on the occasion, Project Coordinator (PIU-PDMA), Mr. Nisar Ahmed Sani revealed that PDMA Punjab was implementing a tested and proven strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Disaster Risk Management (DRM) in the province.
