Technical Centers for the Education of Transgender Are Working In Punjab

Spokesman Punjab government Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan has flayed KPK government for not taking suitable steps for the betterment of transgender community and regretted that despite announcement of provision of stipend and technical education to the transgender no action is taken by the provincial government. “It was an irony that KPK government under PTI played with the emotions of already neglected community and had falsely created false hope among them that they would be paid Rs. 2000 stipend every month” said the spokesman.

Further Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan pointed out that KPK government had announced Rs.20 crore for the welfare of the transgender in June 2016 which were later decreased to Rs. five crore 77 lac but due to none serious steps the allocated funds were lapsed gradually. It is worth mentioning that during the current fiscal year Rs. One crore 80 lac allocated, out of which only grant amounting Rs. 90 lac was released. “Program of establishment of training centers to equip the transgender with technical courses like beautician, electrician, fashion designing was not came true despite hallow slogans” he said. The spokesman said that like many other projects the KPK government has failed to implement this project too. On the other hand, Malik Ahmed said, such training centers have been established in various towns of Punjab especially in Sargodha. Similarly, “Taleem-e-Balighan” centers have also been constituted for the transgender. Number of transgenders has started their work as a tailor and beautician after getting training from these centers.
