Provincial Minister for Schools Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan presided over a meeting at Children’s Library Complex, here today to review arrangements of Rising Punjab Sports Competitions being held from March 7 across the province. These competitions will be held under the aegis of Punjab Schools Education Department. The Minister was given briefing about different aspects of the program by the participants.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister said that 11.5 million students of public and private sector schools will take part in the Rising Punjab Competitions. These competitions will be started from union council and tehsils levels from March 7 and after it, competitions will be held at district, division, interdivision and provincial levels. Cricket final will be held at Qaddafi Stadium while football and hockey finals will also be held in the provincial metropolis. Rana Mashhood said that purpose of holding this sports event is to promote the culture of sports in the students. Teams comprising of 15 players will be constituted among the best players of the events under an agreement with Lahore Qalanders. The cricket team will visit Australia, football team will go to Brazil while the hockey team will tour Holland to take part in competitions there. The meeting was attended by officers of Schools Education and other departments.
