A comprehensive plan for the revival of handmade carpet industry has been chalked out. This industry will be revived through the collaboration of Punjab Small Industries Corporation and Cluster Development Project with the consultation of all stakeholders. Handicrafts is a culture of Pakistan and this culture will be revived at all cost. Provincial Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal stated this while addressing the meeting held at civil Secretariat today. MD Punjab Small Industries Corporation, Chairperson Carpet Training Institute and officers of Industries Department also attended the meeting. Provincial Minister said that it is top most priority of the government enhancing exports and decreasing imports and all resources are being utilized in this regard. He said that SMEs play a Vitol role for the progress of the country and generate thousands of opportunities of jobs. Punjab government chalked out a comprehensive strategy for the promotion of SMEs. He said that handicrafts is a culture of our country and we will not let it to die. Every possible step will be taken for the promotion of the art of handicrafts. Provincial Minister directed to prepare a comprehensive plan for the revival of cluster centers of Ahmed Pur East Rahimyar Khan and Rajanpur.
