Pre-Moon Soon Arrangements Stressed To Face Floods in Punjab

Punjab Government would remain at high alert this year to meet any kind of emergency and untoward situation in the coming moon soon season. Punjab Disaster Management Authority has been directed to complete well before all necessary arrangements and take in to loop all the concerned departments and district administration as well. In a high level meeting presided over by the Punjab Minister for Disaster Management Mian Khalid Mahmood it has been decided that before time arrangements will be completed and it would be ensured that the lives and properties of the citizens would be saved at all costs. Districts of South Punjab already hit by floods would be specially focused and district authorities should be kept in loop till the end of rainy season. Minister Mian Khalid Mahmood pointed out that due to heavy snow falls this year it is expected that any unexpected situation may occur so by the 10th April details should be collected from the concerned departments. He directed the Punjab Disaster Management Authority to in order all ware-houses and other affairs as early as possible. Mian Khalid Mahmood said that all over the Punjab at district level plans should be devised to meet any kind of emergency and provision of sufficient clean drinking water should be ensured in the climate hit areas and for this purpose proper water tanks should be available in all the districts.

In the briefing session, DG Punjab Disaster Management Authority Rashid Ahmed Khan told that all over the Punjab there would high alert from June 15 to October 15 and special arrangements would be made with the collaboration of other departments. He told that relief activities have been designed to meet any kind of situation and this year one month before targets have been fixed. DG assured the Minister Disaster Management that keeping in view the past experiences best possible strategy would be devised this year which would be aimed at saving lives and properties of common man.
