Provincial Minister for Communication & Works Sardar Muhammad Asif Nakai chaired the second meeting of the Provincial Steering Committee on Rural Accessibility Programme “NAYA PAKISTAN – MANZILEN ASAN” in the Committee Room of C&W here on Tuesday. Secretary C&W Sheharyar Sultan, Member Planning & Development Abid Bodla, Chief Engineer Highway North Shafqat Ali Butar, Chief Engineer Highway Central Nayyar Saeed and relevant officials from Finance Department and Local Government also attended the meeting.
Secretary C&W Sheharyar Sultan updated the meeting about the status of the Rural Accessibility Programme. The meeting discussed at length pre-qualification process of contractors and approval of criteria, process for hiring of resident consultants and last but not the least process for engaging consultants to devise Dashboard Monitoring Mechanism. After careful consideration, the chair approved the whole agenda items of the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Muhammad Asif Nakai directed to increase the minimum marks required for pre-qualification of the contractors from 60 per cent to 65 per cent and asked the concerned authorities to mention it on pre-qualification documents as well. He further said that the Provincial Steering Committee has been allowed by the Chief Minister Punjab to determine 5 per cent of the total scope on need basis. “There should be no compromise on the quality while construction of these roads and quality should be the priority in order to increase the lifecycle of these roads, he added.
