Mian Aslam Iqbal Presides Over a Meeting to Finalize Ramazan Package 2019

Punjab Minister for Industries & Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal presided over a meeting of Cabinet Committee for Price Control at 90-Shahra-e-Quaid-e-Azam today. Various proposals to give the final shape to Ramazan package 2019 were reviewed in the meeting. The meeting decided to establish additional Ramazan bazars in the province for the provision of relief to common men and the utility stores will also be used for this purpose. 19-items will be available at subsidized rate at fair price shops set up in Ramazan bazars. Sugar Mills Association agreed to provide sugar at the rate of Rs.54 kg in Ramazan Bazars. A proposal to provide bag hampers at the door step of the houses of poor families were also reviewed.

Addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister for Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that the purpose of establishing Ramazan Bazars is to provide relief to poor and common men. Useful consultation has been made with poultry association, flour mills association, sugar mills association and other trader organizations and Ramazan package is being finalized in the light of consultation with them. He said that no compromise will be made on the quality and weight of the items provided in the Ramazan bazars. He said targeted subsidy will be given so that deprieved people can benefit from it. Provincial Minister directed to improve the system of market committees and make them fully functional. He said such a mechanism will be evolved for the provision of wheat to flour mills that only the common men can take benefit from it. He said that there is no issue of availability of wheat and sugar therefore, no one will be allowed to create artificial shortage. Mian Aslam Iqbal directed to finalize the payment schedule of sugarcane growers with the remaining sugar mills and Kisan Ittehad. Provincial Minister for Food Samiullah Chaudhary has said that the traditional Ramazan package model continued for the last many years is not useful and we will have to take proper steps for the provision of relief to common men. Field force should also be made activate. Provincial Minister for Agriculture Noman Akhtar Langrial has said that we should focus on the implementation of policies. Provincial Minister for Finance Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bukhat, concerned secretaries, MD Utility Stores and other officers attended the meeting. Later on, a delegation of Pakistan Flour Mills Association also called on Provincial Minister for Industries & Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal at 90-Shahra-e-Azam and discussed Ramazan package 2019 and provision of flour at subsidized rates. Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal has said Punjab government is establishing Ramazan Bazars in the whole province. The flour provided by the Flour Mills Association at subsidized rates in the Ramazan bazars will only be benefited to common men. Flour Mills Association agreed upon to provide flour at subsidized rates in Ramazan Bazars. Provincial Minister for Agriculture Noman Akhtar Langrial and Proivincial Minister for Food Samiullah Chaudhary, Secretaries Food & Industries were also present on this occasion.
