Executive Director CSJ, Chairperson People’ commission for minorities Rights Peter Jacob called on Provincial Minister for HR&MA Ijaz Alam Augustine at Human Rights Office on Wednesday to discuss issues of minorities. Peter Jacob briefed to the minister that recently a conference held in Islamabad to urged the federal and provincial governments to undertake effective measures to ensure the ‘Right to Education without Discrimination’. He further briefed main agenda of conference was the removal of hate material from educational curricula; educational quota for minorities in higher education institutes and expansion of subject options available to minority students. The Minister Ijaz Alam told to the Peter Jacob that Punjab Government Punjab is providing financial assistance to the brilliant and deserving students including minorities. He said that recently more than 84 million rupees being distributed as educational scholarship certificates among brilliant and deserving minority’s students of South Punjab. Ijaz Alam said that no doubt that Christian youth emerge as a talented and productive segment of the population that plays a contributory role in nation’s progress.
