A delegation of Pakistan Sugar Mills Association called on Provincial Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal at Civil Secretariat today. During the meeting, Ramzan Package, issue of the payment to sugarcane growers, provision of sugar in Ramzan bazaars at subsidized rates and availability of sugar in the open market were discussed. Secretary Industries, DG Industries and Cane Commissioner were also present in the meeting. While talking to delegation, Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal has said there is no shortage of sugar in Punjab, therefore, the issue of availability of sugar should not be created in the market. He said sugar will be provided in Ramzan bazaars at subsidized rates and dealer mafia will not be allowed to snatch the rights of the poor people. The delegation of sugar mills association agreed upon providing sugar at subsidized rates in Ramzan bazaars. The delegation also apprised the minister of the problems facing sugar industry. Provincial Minister directed to evolve an action plan for the payment of sugarcane growers by the sugar mills with the consultation of Kisaan Itehad.
