Provincial Minister for Environment Protection Muhammad Rizwan said that the government was taking environmental issues very seriously and taking all possible measures to ensure pollution free environment. He was speaking at a seminar on “Environmental Protection Our Responsibility” organized under the aegis of Interfaith Dialogue Forum here on Tuesday. The provincial minister said that protecting environment is the moral duty of every human being on this planet, rather it’s not only protecting the environment indirectly it is about protecting ourselves from major loss. “How ignorant can we afford to be when it is the question of our survival,” he added.
He said that climate change is not only affecting human health but agriculture sector as well. “It is need of the hour to revise the curriculum and add chapters related to environmental degradation in it which may help provide civic education and train the younger generations of a society,” he added. Rizwan said that without the guidance and support of religious scholars, we cannot progress and develop therefore, it is very important that the religious scholars must also play their part and educate the people regarding the importance of cleanliness and how environmental pollution is dangerous for all of us.He stressed that since every faith and civilization stresses the importance of cleanliness therefore, the spiritual leaders must give awareness to the people regarding cleanliness in their spiritual congregations and worship places.it is our responsibility to provide clean environment to the future generations. Likewise, it is also important to give awareness to the young generation regarding tree plantation”, he added.
