Standing Committee Approves Punjab LG Bill 2019: Law Minister Punjab

Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Local Government & Community  Development (LG&CD) Raja Basharat has said that the Standing Committee of Punjab Assembly for Local Government had approved the draft of proposed Punjab Local Government Bill 2019 after which it would be tabled in Punjab Assembly for further discussions. He stated it after the meeting of the Standing Committee concluded at Punjab Assembly on Thursday. Raja Basharat told that the Committee was briefed on the Bill in depth and it underwent a detailed discussions before accorded the approval. He said “All of the members of the Standing Committee took active part in the discussions and reviewed the Bill from each angle and corner. The queries of the Committee members were satisfactorily replied by the concerned for its all legal repercussions and requirements.” The Law Minister expressing entire contentment on the legislation process of the Bill hoped that soon the nation would hear a good news in this regard as the new law had been drafted in accordance with the manifesto of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf as the Law is fully capable of fulfilling people’s aspirations they had set with the PTI government. “The LG law would endow powers to the public at grass root level and promise financial as well as political autonomy for the citizens in real sense. In a nut shell, the new LG Act will become an effective instrument for the change Imran Khan had committed for.” he concluded.
