CM Holds High-Level Meeting about Development Schemes

A high-level meeting was held here today under the chair of punjab chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar which reviewed the progress of ongoing programs as well as main points of new development schemes for southern punjab especially for the DG Khan division. The chief minister, while addressing the meeting, said that work will be done on priority basis for the development and prosperity of backward districts of southern punjab. He said that funds will be allocated on priority basis for important sectors like health, education, cleanliness, roads’ infrastructure and supply of potable water. He expressed indignation over unclean conditions in DG Khan and said that maintaining general cleanliness is the responsibility of local bodies and local government departments. Heaps of garbage is scattered in the city and there is no one to rectify the situation. Will only that matter be taken care of which will be noticed by me and you will not do anything, he enquired. The chief minister directed special secretary local government to visit DG Khan on Saturday and submit a report after reviewing the situation and identify the persons responsible for it. He said that those who do not want to work should sit in the home. Now, the honeymoon period is over and you will have to give results. He said that provision of basic amenities to the people of southern punjab is his responsibility and he will fulfill it at any cost. He directed the upgradation of southern punjab hospitals as soon as possible and said that rural health centres and basic health units in southern punjab districts will also be upgraded. He said that availability of senior doctors in hospitals is necessary and health department should take necessary measures for recruiting approved vacant posts. The dearth of staff should be redressed in health centres besides ensuring the provision of important medical equipment on priority basis. He said that prompt measures should be taken for the restoration of water supply schemes as clean potable water is a basic right of every citizen. However, parts of southern punjab are deprived of clean drinking water. He said that PTI government will take every possible step for provision of clean drinking water. He said that steps should be taken in accordance with relevant rules and regulations for the upgradation of schools. He said that setting up of emergency in the far-flung areas of southern punjab is necessary and scope of Rescue 1122 will be extended besides setting up rescue 1122 centers in tribal areas. Secretaries of irrigation, housing, finance, health, schools education and high ranking officers were present in the meeting whereas commissioner and Deputy commissioner DG Khan division and concerned officials attended the meeting through video link.
