TEVTA and ADB to Join Hands for Setting up Six Centers of Excellence

Chairman TEVTA Ali Salman Siddique has said that TEVTA, with the help of Asian Development Bank, will setup six most modern and well equipped Centers of Excellence in Punjab for providing most latest training and providing updated skill development facilities in the newest fields to its students. This was stated by him here, Wednesday, in a meeting with an Asian Development Bank (ADP) team headed by Norman Larocque, Principal Education Specialist, ADB. Amongst others, the meeting was also attended by TEVTA COO Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Asian Development Bank representatives Herman Sonneveld, Alexander Siboui and Isabel Martin. Chairman TEVTA said that provision of fully equipped modern labs in TEVTA Institutions with the assistance of ADB was amongst his top priorities so that the TEVTA students could acquire top class expertise by having a hands-on training in these labs. He said that linkage with industries would be strengthened under the program for adapting the courses in accordance with their requirements for ensuring preparation of a readily acceptable skill force for the job market. He said that TEVTA Courses were being remodeled according to new vision on recommendation of LUMS team so as to tailor the courses along the modern lines. Ali Salman Said that the aptitude test of the students at the time of admission teachers training and adaptation of courses in line with needs of the market were the steps aimed at remodeling TEVTA along modern lines. The ADB representatives Norman Larocque assured cooperation of ADB with TEVTA for realization of these goals. A committee was setup comprising ADB and TEVTA representatives for putting these objectives to practice.
