The Environment Protection Department (EPD) Punjab has sealed 12 industries in different areas of Lahore over environmental pollution, said EPD Deputy Director Ali Ijaz in a statement issued on Wednesday. "The sealed industries were harming the environment and were a cause of air pollution," he added. The EPD team, under the supervision of Deputy Director Ali Ijaz, raided the industries emitting dense black smoke and using substandard fuel and sealed them on the spot. The sealed industries include Zulfiqar Poultry Works, Gazanfer Poultry Works, Javaid Poultry Works, Haji Nazir Poultry Works Gajjumatta, Ali Poultry Works Gajjumatta, Haji Liaquat Steel Re Rolling Mill Mehmood Booti Ring Road, Osama Steel Re Rolling Mill Mehmood Booti Ring Road, MSI Steel Re Rolling Mill Mehmood Booti Ring Road, Umer Steel Re Rolling Mill Karol Ghatti Ring Road, Toheed Steel Re Rolling Mill Bheni Road, New Noshahi Steel Re Rolling Mill Bheni Road and Style Textiles Multan Road. Ali Ijaz said that the owners of these industries had not installed air pollution control equipments despite warnings hence they were sealed.
