Punjab Government is Providing all Kinds of Facilities to The Centers Facilitate Tortured Women: Minister Law

Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Welfare Raja Basharat has said that the Punjab government is providing all kinds of medical, legal, psychological and counseling assistance to the centers set up to facilitate tortured women. He was chairing the first meeting of the Board of directors of the Punjab Women Protection Authority on Tuesday. Chairperson Kaniz Fatima Chadhar, MPA Sabin Gul, MPA Shamsha Aapa, former MNA Mehnaz Rafi, Secretary & DG Social Welfare and board members were also present.

Raja Basharat welcomed the new board members and hoped that they would play an active role in assisting the government for protection of women. He said that Chief Minister Usman Bazdar is taking concrete steps for the rehabilitation and improvement of women who are tortured and therefore government would introduce more effective policies and legislation according to his instructions. Minister Law promised to resolve all the Authority's problems and provide the services of a female prosecutor to the authority immediately. He welcomed the suggestions of board members to make the authority organized and effective. Earlier, Kaniz Fatima Chadhar said that the government has established an active institution in Multan against violence on women while centers of this kind would be set up in each district. She said that a comprehensive awareness campaign is being launched in partnership with universities on violence against women.
