Provincial Industries and Trade Minister presided over a meeting of Task Force for Price Control at CM Office today in which matters pertaining to monitoring prices of essential items, implementation on price control mechanism and performance of price control magistrates came under review. Aslam Iqbal while addressing the participants said that those indulging in hoarding, profiteering and creating artificial price-hike are enemies of humanity. Stern action will be taken against such mafias who are found involved in squeezing blood of common man. Administration should strive hard with regard to normalizing the prices of essential edibles, he added. Concerned departments should play a proactive and vibrant role in order to provide relief to the problem-stricken people, he asserted. Prevalent conditions cannot improve by merely sitting idle in offices and government machinery should practically deliver to redress the menace of aforesaid problems on priority basis. Aslam Iqbal directed that display of ghee prices of all brands should be ensured on their packets. He further directed that strict action should be taken against such flour mills which fail to provide flour in the markets after getting wheat on subsidized rates. Supply of essential items should be ensured keeping in mind their demand in the market, concluded Aslam Iqbal. Secretary Industries and Trade, Secretaries of concerned departments, Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner Lahore, Cane Commissioner and senior officials participated in the meeting while Provincial Food Minister Sami Ullah Chaudhry, Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners across the province participated in the meeting via video link.
