Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar in his message on International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women has said that inflicting violence against women is an inhuman, anti-humanity act and violence on women is not only a social evil but also a legal offence. Injustice being done to any women on the basis of gender bias amounts to cruelty. By empowering women and granting them equal rights, it is possible to eradicate such a social vice, he added. The religion of Islam has granted women with rights which has no example in any society. To make effective legislation in order to pre-empt violence on women is part of PTI government’s priorities, he maintained. Effective lawmaking has been done to safeguard rights of women and preventing them from violence. To provide prompt justice and redress grievances of women, state-of-the-art centre is working in Multan and facilities of police, prosecution, medical and forensic are available under one roof at this centre. The scope of such centres will also be expanded across the province so as to redress their grievances and provision of prompt justice. The formulated policy will be implemented with regard to eliminating violence against women in Naya Pakistan, he asserted. PTI government is sincere and determined in resolving problems of violence-stricken women and the dream of Naya Pakistan cannot be fulfilled until complete eradication of violence against women. This day provides an ample opportunity to lead a respectable life by giving protection to violence-stricken women. We all will have to perform our religious, social and moral responsibilities for preventing violence related incidents being inflicting on women. We have to reiterate our firm resolve to continue making effective steps for eliminating violence on women and safeguarding their rights in the society, concluded Usman Buzdar.
