A special walk was organized by the Peace for Life Welfare Foundation to raise awareness and prevention of smog near Total Petrol Pump Peeli Kothi Road, Lahore, in which representatives from the Department of Environment, Waste Management, Social Welfare, WASA and Civil Society participated in large numbers. Participants carried different play cards, which contained instructions on the growing diseases and precautions due to environmental pollution. President Foundation Mian Amir Razzaq told media that the purpose of the walk to keep the environment neat and clean by public awareness and people should know the importance of trees, how much damage the pollution by cutting the trees in large number. Representative of Environment department told to media that the main cause of SMOG was to burn crop in India while vehicles also pollute the air, a comprehensive program has been set up to eliminate smog and environmental pollution. In Lahore and other major cities of Punjab, the environment has been affected due to tree cutting in large numbers. The buses will be operated by Hybrid or Electric, Apart from this, it has been decided to set up a forest on 60 thousand acres. However, a judicial commission has been set up by the Lahore High Court which is performing very effective role in preventing environmental pollution. He further told that owners of brick kilns will be trained in the use of new technology to make environment clean.
