Minister HR&MA Ijaz Alam Attends Ceremony of Akhuwet Foundation

To promote Ehsaas Programme of Government of the Pakistan, Akhuwat Foundation organized loan disbursement ceremony in Living stone church Okara to disburse over 1.5 Million rupees among 53 deserving families on Saturday. The Provincial Minister for HR&MA Ijaz Alam Augustine attended the ceremony as chief guest, while in his address said that no doubt Ehsaas was the biggest and the boldest programme for the poor ever launched in Pakistan and the government looks forward to working with all stakeholders public, private, civil society, philanthropists and expatriate Pakistanis to ensure that our promise of lifting millions of people out of poverty and build a strong foundation together for a stronger, safer and successful Pakistan. He said that through Akhuwat Islamic micro-financing aim of Government was to alleviate poverty by empowering socially and economically marginalized segments of the society through interest-free microfinance and education. Regional manager Akhuwet in his address said that major objectives of microcredit scheme are to stop the exploitation of the poor caused by costly informal credit, to provide small loans to poor people at a comparatively lower cost as compared to accessible informal loans, to finance economically & socially workable projects those cannot be sponsored otherwise, to empower women within houses as decision makers and in society through active economic participation, to create maximum employment openings, to create self-reliant and self-employed people and to reduce poverty, accelerate growth and improve the living standards on sustainable basis. At the end of the ceremony, the provincial minister distributed the cheques of financial aid to deserving minorities. On the occasion Pastor Waqas Moazzam, representatives of Akhuwet foundation and representatives of the minority were present.
