Provincial Minister for Industries & Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal presided over a meeting here at civil secretariat today. Issues regarding the establishment of special economic zones, sales of plots for setting up of industrial units and provision of infrastructure in industrial estates were reviewed in the meeting. Secretary Industries Zafar Iqbal, Chairman PIEDMC Syed Nabeel Hashmi, Addl. Secretary Industry, CEO PIEDMC and concerned officers attended the meeting. While addressing the meeting, provincial minister has said that revolution of economic development will be occurred by establishing special economic zones in the province. Industrialists and investors will be given special incentives and plots on subsidized rates for establishing industrial units in special economic zones. He said that industrial estates equipped with latest infrastructure will be proved a game changer for the development of the province. Foreign investors are investing in Punjab due to investors’ friendly policies of the government. Economic conditions of Punjab will change due to industrialization. He said that steps are also being taken for revival sick industrial units besides accelerating the process of industrialization. Work is being expeditiously continued on the project of Allama Iqbal Industrial City Faisalabad. 2.5 lac job opportunities will be created by setting up industries in this project. Industrial process will be accelerated due to establishment of industrial estates in south Punjab. Provincial minister said that it is necessary to work speedily for the completion of these economic projects. He directed that concerned departments should do their duty diligently for the 100 percent colonization of industrial estates. Creation of jobs is the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and this object can only achieve through industrialization, he concluded.Â
