Secretary Industries & Trade Capt. (R) Zafar Iqbal presided over an important meeting at Civil Secretariat. Technical and administrative matters with regard to setting up new cement plants were being reviewed in detail. Secretary Industries & Trade while addressing the meeting said that investment amounting to billions of rupees will arrive with the establishment of new cement plants and employment opportunities will also be generated. He directed all concerned departments to work in a consolidated manner during the process of granting approval for the construction of cement plants and also directed to expedite the process of setting up cement plants. He further directed Irrigation, Environment, Mines and Local Government Departments to accomplish their departmental matters for granting approval to set up cement plants. All concerned departments should fix timeline during going through all phases of granting approval for constructing cement plants. He also welcomed online registration facility being provided by Punjab Information Technology Board for setting up cement plants. The applicant will also remain updated with the progress being made on his application. It was also decided during the meeting that during initial phase Mines Department will grant allotment of mining lease and later other departments will complete their respective official proceedings, he concluded.
