An anti-polio campaign has been formally launched in the provincial metropolis Lahore here on Monday. Minister Housing, Urban Development & Public Health Engineering Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed and Deputy Commissioner Lahore Danish Afzaal inaugurated the campaign by administering anti-polio vaccine to the children at Jinnah Filter Clinic, Wahdat Colony. Speaking at this occasion, Mehmood-ur-Rasheed said that more than 1.9 million children will be given anti-polio drops. For this purpose, more than five thousand teams have been constituted for administering anti-polio vaccine to the children of different areas. He added that effective steps have been taken to eradicate polio and it has also been decided to hold anti-polio campaign on monthly basis for the total eradication of this disease. Deputy Commissioner Danish Afzaal said that proper security measures have been taken for the safety of the anti-polio teams. The citizens should cooperate with the teams because two drops of anti-polio vaccine guarantee a healthy future of the children, he added. Different officials of district administration and health department were also present on this occasion.
