Government is Committed To Improve the Price and Supply Line of DAP Fertilizer: Punjab Minister Agriculture

The government is committed to improve the price and supply line of DAP fertilizer, especially at the time of wheat sowing, to ensure timely availability of agricultural inputs to farmers. These views were expressed by Punjab Provincial Minister for Agriculture Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi during a meeting with a delegation of All Pakistan Fertilizers Dealers Association(APFDA) in Lahore. On the occasion The Agriculture Minister said that standard agricultural inputs are of fundamental importance for achieving the agricultural production targets. Therefore, the government is taking steps to ensure the availability of quality agricultural fertilizers. On the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Ahmed Bazdar, the Agriculture Task Force has seized fake pesticides and substandard fertilizers worth Rs. 40 crore and registered 2300 FIRs against the persons involved in this crime, during the last three years(2018-21). He further said that the Punjab government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against traders who was involved in sale of substandard fertilizers and all possible actions are being taken to eradicate it. During the meeting, the provincial minister stressed on the representatives of All Pakistan Fertilizer Dealers Association to play their special role in rooting out substandard fertilizers. Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi agreed on their representation in the Agricultural Task Force and inclusion in the Dealers Training Program. On this occasion, APFDA Informed the Minister about the issues like rising prices of fertilizers, its transportation, increasing rates of taxes, mafia involved in substandard fertilizers, subsidy vouchers, compulsory membership with Association and theft of containers fully loaded with fertilizers. Punjab Minister for Agriculture Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi assured to meet the legitimate demands of the representatives of Association. On the occasion, All Pakistan Fertilizers Dealers Association presented a commemorative shield to the Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Punjab. Chairman Khawaja Azhar, Senior Vice Chairman Abdul Shakoor, Vice Chairman Mian Afzal, Chief Coordinator Mahmood and other representatives of the APFDA attended the meeting.
