Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid has asked Punjab Healthcare Commission to monitor service quality at empanelled hospitals with the Naya Pakistan Qomi Sehat Card in a meeting at the PHC here on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer Punjab Healthcare Commission Dr Muhammad Saqib Aziz, Director Clinical Governance Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, Director Licensing Dr Noor Janjua, Director Human Resource Asif Habib and Director Complaints Dr Syed Samoon Masood. The Minister reviewed performance of Punjab Healthcare Commission and new initiatives. CEO PHC briefed the Minister about the performance of the Commission and new initiatives in healthcare. The Health Minister said, “The Punjab Healthcare Commission is ensuring service quality for patients in hospitals across the province. In order to facilitate families holding Naya Pakistan Qomi Sehat Card, the treatment of patients in empaneled hospitals is being monitored regularly through the PHC. SOPs are being reviewed for ICUs of Punjab hospitals. The most important person for a doctor is his patient. Government hospitals in Punjab are taking key steps to ensure safe treatment of patients. Counseling of relatives is very important regarding the treatment of patients in hospitals. Patient must not face any problem regarding treatment in any government hospital. Treatment cost on agreed rates is being constantly monitored in all hospitals. The PHC performance against quacks is satisfactory.” CEO PHC Dr. Muhammad Saqib Aziz said Regular monitoring of treatment of patients in private hospitals is being ensured. He said training sessions of healthcare workers are being conducted by various medical universities. SOPs have been prepared for ICUs of hospitals in Punjab. Recommendations have been sent to Health Department for amendments in the laws of the PHC. The PHC has so far issued 64,000 registrations and licenses to more than 42,000 government and non-government medical facilities. The PHC, he added, has so far raided more than 111,000 treatment centers and taken action against more than 36,000 quacks.
