Meeting of Punjab FP 2030 Working Group & Contraceptive Commodity Security Group Held

A meeting of Punjab Family Planning 2030 Working Group and Contraceptive Commodity Security Group was organized to review progress on FP 2030 commitments and plan future interventions today at a local hotel in Lahore.

The Director General Population Welfare Department Ms. Saman Rai chaired the joint meeting of Punjab Family Planning 2030 Working Group and Contraceptive Commodity Security Group. The DG said the Population Welfare Department is committed to work towards achieving universal access to reproductive health by the end of 2030, today’s meeting is a platform for all stakeholders to convene, align, share knowledge and make advancements towards achieving FP 2030 goals. The chair reviewed progress on FP 2030 goals by all stakeholders and identified areas that require special attention to achieve the goals within stipulated timeline.

Program & Technical Specialist UNFPA Shoaib Shehzad welcomed all participants of the meeting and apprised them on current statistics of family planning. Additional Director (M&E) Mrs. Bushra Naveed presented the current status of contraceptive methods across Punjab. She highlighted best and low performing districts in this regard along with proposed interventions for improvement. Section Officer (Technical) Muhammad Naeem Sadiq shared progress on Provincial Action Plan in the meeting along with issues and challenges faced in the implementation of the plan.

Representative Greenstar Social Marketing, Ghazunfer Abbas briefed on Family Planning initiatives by Greenstar Social Marketing. The Chief of Party TCI shared that GSM is willing to extend all-out support to the government sector to contribute towards FP 2030 goals through family planning and family health solutions.

DG Population Welfare Department Saman Rai directed all stakeholders to expedite work of FP 2030 to achieve the targets in time. The Director General further emphasized on the need to train workforce to enable them perform their duties efficiently. With a strong coordination, trained staff and effective communication, we can achieve FP 2030 targets within the stipulated timeline”, said the DG.

Additional Secretary (Technical) Dr. Nyla Altaf, Director (PME) Dr. Zubda Riaz, Program & Technical Specialist UNFPA Shoaib Ahmad, Additional Director (M&E) Mrs. Bushra Naveed, Section Officer (Technical) Muhammad Naeem Sadiq, Chief of Party TCI Greenstar Ghazunfer Abbas and representatives of Health Department, Education Department, UNFPA and FPAP also attended the meeting.
