CPWB Rescues 522 Street Beggars in February 23

Chairperson Child Protection & Welfare Bureau (CPWB) Sarah Ahmad has stated that rescue operations were being carried out throughout Lahore, daily, by the rescue teams as part of the ongoing anti-begging campaign. 

In a statement issued on Friday, she added that 522 street beggars have been rescued from different areas of the city, in the month of February alone, and mentioned that daily rescue operations were conducted by the district CPWB offices across Punjab. Similarly, rescue operations were also carried out on weekends in response to complaints about the presence of street beggars in any area, she added. 

The street beggars were provided with food, shelter and other facilities by the CPWB, she said and appealed to the people to call child helpline 1121 about the presence of street beggars and their traffickers to rid society of this menace.
